In This Web Page, from the information I obtained from various sources (including e-mail from other Marchildon family members), I tried to document historical information and trace some branches of the Marchildon family tree since the very first Marchildon in North America.
The first Marchildon, René Marchelidon, was born in Maille, France 4 January 1711 and died April 1770 in Batiscan. His father name was Vincent Marchelidon, maried to Marie-Jeanne Lamarque at St-Phélé en Poitou, France (Nearby community is ST-Pierre de Maille, near ST-Savin, east of Poitiers). René changed his name to Marchildon some time before his own mariage. Scott Marchildon (from Toronto) told me that the ancestors of Vincent were in fact ... Italians!!! I did not find any information (yet) about his trip to Nouvelle France. When did it happened? did he came with his family or as a young independant man seeking adventure?
René maried Marie-Josephite Baribeau, at Ste-Genevieve de Batiscan, Québec on February 29 1740.
The only other information I know about René is that he had eleven childs, and that there is 6 generations between me and René. I have the direct line of pedigree between René and me (click on "Alain Marchildon direct line of pedigree(E)" in the left window index). As you can see I do not possess a lot of information about the first Marchildon.
My goal is to obtain various information and to share them to people interrested to Marchildon Family Genealogy. Every time I will receive valuable information, I will group them by sub-subject and create a section of the Web Page. This Web Page may serve as a register in which we may add photos, historical facts... As an example, I received recently from Ross Marchildon, Toronto, Ontario, the family tree of Hector Marchildon, the very first Marchildon in Ontario. Hector is linked, at the third generation to my direct line of Pedigree. Hector's sons went all across Canada and this branch of the family created the "English Canadian Marchildon".
It is fitting to prepare a Web Site that would perpetuate the memories of the past, animate the present and sustain the pride, honour and affection of this great family.
I wish to thank, sincerely, all who helped to gather and share the information contained in this Web Page. (Reference)
May it be a source of information and joy now and in the years to come.
