Hector was born at Batiscan, Québec on June 17 1824. About the year 1840, Hector Marchildon came to Ste-Croix (later Lafontaine), Ontario and purchased fifty acres of land in the 15th Concession of the township of Tiny. Beside the little stream that flowed across his land he built his home and a saw-mill. He came back to Batiscan, married Olive Despins on July 6, 1846, and shortly after they emigrated to Ste-Croix. Back to his home, Olive and Hector raised their family of six sons: Hector, Amable, Francois, Thomas, Dr. Pierre, Clément; and five daughters: Marie-Emélie, Olive, Zélia, Adéline and Victoire. Hector died at Lafontaine August 13 1894. During the 1840's, two of his brothers and three of his sisters emigrated to Ste-Croix: Hector, Louis, Constant, Marie-Victoire, Flavie, and Marie-Calixte were the very first Ontario Marchildon. A document (43 pages) that trace the family of Hector is available
