Here is an email from John Marchildon (Pheonix Arizona) received in August 2004. John seeked for the tomb of Francois Marchildon for many years.
Dear Alain, on my visit to Natchez, Mississippi, last month I finally located the grave of Francois Marchildon who is buried in the Natchez Cemetery. I had searched for records for over twenty years and had been told they were lost but the custodian had a log book showing his burial in a unmarked grave on Catholic Hill grave no 101. Such information was not available in records of the Natchez Cathedral or other sources I have consulted over the years. His place of death is given as Cypress Grove, Louisiana, of which there are two in the area, one in Concordia Parish and another in Tensas Parish. I could not locate the former but there are no known extant records from the latter and the current owner of the land knows nothing of who lived there in 1883. Death records were not kept by the State in that era and many other records were lost in the destruction of the Court House by a tornado many years ago.
